Getting on Twitter is the first step. Now you have to tell us who you are.
I know it can be painful for us shy types to do what basically amounts to standing in front of the room and announcing to everyone who we are and what makes us special. Unfortunately, if you are going to take the time to get yourself a Twitter ID and follow a few people, you need to take this extra step. A profile with no information actually reflects poorly on you. I generally don't follow people if they don't want to tell me who they are (also don't follow people with protected tweets - but that's a topic for another post)--and I don't think I'm alone on this.
At the top of your Twitter page, under your Twitter name, you'll see a pull-down menu. Select Settings, then the Profile tab. Include your real name, and briefly tell us where you work and any accomplishments.
Yes, it's OK to do that.
